This usually represents how much your other half loves you and how much you’re worth to him. The quality of the diamond is indicated in how it sparkles and shines as demonstrated by the 4C’s.
They 4C’s are as follows:
Colour – the more colourless the Diamond, the more beautiful the gem.
Carat Weight -the heavier the stone, the greater the cost. If you care about size, then 0.5 – 1.2 Carat weight is ideal.
Clarity – this is about diamond inclusions or blemishes. Anything above 11 will be fine if your budget permits.
Finally, consider the grade of the diamond as we as Certification.

However, due to change in the structure of our society and shift of priorities, that rule has fallen out of favour. Couples are now making their own rules up as they go along.
