Prince Harry Defends His Black Girlfriend Against Racist Comments

Prince Harry is not taking kindly to the outright racist comments being hurled at his new girlfriend, Meghan Markle. You see, Markle, known for her role in Suits, is biracial. Meghan’s mom is Caucasian and her father African American. Though she and Prince Harry make a very cute couple, not everyone is happy about their union.
Over the past week or so, British press and social media trolls have had some not-so-nice things to say about Markle. Prince Harry has had enough and in a statement that came from Kensington Palace, Harry brings to light those who are spewing “outright racism.”
“The past week has seen a line crossed. His girlfriend Meghan Markle has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public — the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments,” read the statement.
The statement continues, “Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle’s safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subject to such a storm.”
The statement also says that Prince Harry has gone through countless legal battles with members of the media in attempt to keep defamatory things about his new girlfriend out of the press. At one point British paparazzi flocked Markle’s mom’s Crenshaw home and described Markle as “Straight Outta Compton.”
Considering how private Prince Harry normally is, it’s a huge step for him to speak out in defense of his woman. He’s truly a royal indeed.
